The weekend report

…it was the best of times, it was the worst of times…

The weekend was great, my emotional state after 6 hours in the car with an irritable toddler was horrendous, which culminated in a session of ugly irrational crying in the corner last night, which has left me with swollen puffy eyes this morning – sometimes I am my own worst enemy.

The good parts of the weekend were the time with friends and my little family in the beautiful Garden Route. The weather was good, the food excellent and the company great. The toddler had a temperature on Friday, which wasn’t fun, she was a very unhappy little girl, who doesn’t like ‘muti’. Fortunately, after a rough Friday night, she was back to her usual self on Saturday.

DrHF ran a great half marathon – was so proud of her, and she seemed to have a good birthday – we ate delicious fish in pastry on Friday night (her actual birthday) and the celebrated at Bramon wine estate (yes, on the garden route) on Saturday after her run! I can recommend Bramon to you all – we had a delightful tapas style lunch in the vineyards, divine fresh bread, fresh salads, yummy cheeses, pate’s and dips – all so good! There was also a fair amount of champagne drunk – their mcc is delicious and light!

The drive home was tortuous! 6 hours in the car is a long time, especially for a 2 year old… and her mother… but she is just so cute, trying so hard to be a ‘goo(d) girl, mommy’ love her to infinity and beyond! Cheesy grins and all!
