Spring is here

…what a relief. I do love winter, but this one seems to have gone on for a while and I am looking forward to lighter clothes, warmer evenings, and more light! Friday gave us a tantalising taste of things to come – the weather was perfect, the sn shone, the wind was still, and the sea warm. After work on friday, Charlie and I headed to a local seaside eatery for a late lunch, early supper – ?lupper – had a delicious pizza and shared a bottle of wine, while Thandi drew on her chalkboard (best child distraction technique so far). After a walk along the beachfront, we headed to our local beach where Thandi discovered that she LOVED the sea, proceeded to get stripped down, so she could play, play, play in the water – which really was warm. What an evening! When her little lips started to turn blue, we headed home, and had a divine relaxed evening.

Saying that, Spring Day itself was awful, the wind howled and the temperature dropped, nevertheless, we heralded the new season with friends for dinner – gazpacho, fish in pastry and lemon tart were on the menu – yum – washed down with copous amounts of wine… a lovely relaxed start to the season. And sunday really was just a lazy, lazy day… And now its monday again…

Any ideas, aside from meringues, what I can do with 5 unused egg whites? Anyone?

You’ll have to make Granny Cotterell’s Homemade Ice Cream:

1 tin condensed milk
500ml Cream
4 Egg Whites
1 Tsp Vanilla Essence

1.Beat cream until thick.
2.Mix in condensed milk & vanilla
3.Beat egg whites until stiff & fold in.
